Policy Rec: Curriculum Guides and Course Outlines--the Supt. should be responsible.

I recommend that we revise the policy's passive language and assign responsibility to an actor.  So, "Curriculum guides shall be developed . . ." becomes "The Superintendent will oversee . . .".   What do you think?  Your comments are much appreciated.

GOVERNING BOARD POLICY

POLICY TITLE: Curriculum Guides and Course Outlines
POLICY CODE: IGE

The Superintendent will oversee and take ultimate responsibility for developing curriculum guides for all subject areas so that all teachers follow a similar timeline and uniformly determine how students demonstrate mastery of intended objectives. 

The Superintendent will oversee and take ultimate responsibility for ensuring that formative assessment instruments are aligned to specific curriculum objectives and that the data obtained from these assessments is used to guide teachers to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual students.
The Superintendent will oversee and take ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the guides assist teachers in implementing the formal District curriculum and provide varied instructional strategies, approaches, and ideas for how to use materials.
The Superintendent will oversee and take ultimate responsibility for ensuring that all teachers and site administrators use research-supported instructional strategies and pedagogical models to raise student achievement across student populations.
The Superintendent will oversee and take ultimate responsibility for developing and periodically reviewing curriculum guides.
